'Skill for Life' is the Institute of Advanced Motorists' (IAM) most popular membership option, giving you everything you need to pass your Advanced Driving Test  and become a full Member of the IAM.    The package includes:

• The IAM book - "Advanced Driving - the essential guide" - for drivers
• An initial assessment (carried out by your local IAM Group)
• All Test preparation work (undertaken by your local IAM Group)
• Entry into the Advanced Driving Test
• IAM Associate member status, with an automatic upgrade to full Membership of the IAM ( upon passing the Advanced Driving Test within 12 months)

Preparation for the Advanced Test is conducted by volunteers in your local IAM Group. Most people can achieve 'Test standard' after 6-8 observed drives (typically a fortnight apart), so you could be 'Test ready' in 12 - 16 weeks.

The normal price for 'Car - Skill for Life for Drivers' is £139.00 when you buy on-line at the IAM's On-line E-Shop.  

HOWEVER, you can take advantage of a two part payment option if you apply to your local IAM group for a 'Skill for Life' package. The first payment is due with the 'Skill for Life' enrolment form and the second with the Advanced Test booking form.  The split payment option for the Skill for Life programme costs £144, with a first payment of £75 and a second of £69.
